Primary Care Centre:
For many years Banada Dispensary Area had no premises to
accommodate a doctor or nurse. The obvious way forward was through
contact and agreement with The Health Authority. This came about in
2003 when BDA offered a package of land at Banada of one acre, plans
plus planning permission to HSE. A partnership which resulted in a
state of the art eco friendly Primary Care Centre with solar panels
and geo-thermal under floor heating being built.
CLAR was also involved and contributed €189,000 towards costs. The
grounds were raked and sown with grass seed by BDA volunteers and
large rectangular shrub sections cordoned off. This amenity will give
the people of South Sligo a fantastic amenity providing a building of
2400 sq feet capable of providing all health services and needs.
